Stuff

This is what happens when you let a Jewish kid from
Hersey Texas help you try to remember how to turn your
auto assist beam back on in your 550ex flash. While you
run to the bathroom. He turns on your slave function....
that you know nothing about because you have never used it before,
then you have a girl from somewhere in Missouri walking around
with her 20D hanging from her neck and her flash also set to some mysterious
slave function you know nothing about either....but apparently your camera and her flash know
all about,
pose for you....this is lit by her flash.

This happened a few other times before I figure out what was going on.
I still can remember how to turn my auto assist beam back on....

Contest

This is my submission to the first contest we are having here at Hallmark. The topic is Childhood Fears. I had other ideas in mind, but this is the one I could make happen. It is the boogie man...that is really me with a strobe going off in my face, and I have make up on. It is just for fun. A way for us to keep our minds creative while working on all this technical stuff.

We had 2 assignments to shoot recently. Using the Mamiya 645 and film...yes that is correct film. It was challenging because I have never used a light meter before. Regardless of how the pictures turn out and what grade I get, I feel I learned a lot from the assignment.

I have been shooting for Maxpreps here in the New England area. I have made a few sales already. Makes me want to shoot more when I get sales. So this weekend I am planning on shooting 2 football games and one volley ball game. We will see if I pull it off.

It is getting cooler here, but still not cold. That is good.

I cant wait for more time at school, I love it sooooo much. I love every minute of it. Can't get enough of it!

I have some interviews I have to do. I am thinking of getting to the games early and see if I can find some people to interview. I am trying to be as proactive as possible. We have interview strangers, and ask them what they think photographers. And if they had any experience with photographers..if so what. And other stuff too...I don't want to type it all :-)

Well I am off, I need to get my beauty sleep tonight. We are getting photographed for our professional portraits tomorrow, kind of like school pictures, we have to get dressed up and look good.

Stormy Weather Ahead

Now I ask my fellow Californians have you ever seen a forecast like this, in September? Or anytime for that mater...Monday is supposed to be sunny, cloudy and rainy...hmmm

The humidity is not good. It is not fun at all. I don't really think it is worse than dry heat at 115 in California, I just think it is different and just as sucky.

Tomorrow this is my schedule....for those that are interested:

Career Development
Personality Dev.
Technical Lecture
Lunch
Photo Demonstration - 2 Periods
Intro digital Imaging - 2 Periods

Sounds like an exciting day!

I am feeling a bit home sick and blue today. I miss you all. I am sure I will feel better tomorrow.

Hallmark - First Day

Ok I have been off work for a while now, and out of school for 20 some odd years. So today spending all day at school made me tired. But a good kind of tired.

We had our first guest speaker Barbara Bordnick

She was great. Somewhere in her speech I realized I am in the correct place, and I made a very good decision to attend Hallmark. She was able to explain in her words why I am at Hallmark. She said she envied us because we were going to be taught how to do things. She had to figure it out on her own. I know exactly how she feels. Up until now everything I do in photography is guess work trial and error, figuring it out the hard way, luck.... I feel I will gain control over what I do from Hallmark.

It was so cool listening to Barbara. She has met so many people. To hear her pass on some of her experiences and knowledge is priceless to me.

I cant wait for tomorrow to come.

Tonight I have homework! Reading this manual -

New Places

Today I went to Shelburne Falls . I have been there before, but this time we went to see the Pot Holes.

It reminded me of the Feather River, it reminded me of home.

I went with Jessica and Jess. It gets confusing sometimes because they have the same name.

Jessica has this cool tattoo on her neck. I thought I would take a picture of it. It is so funny, usually people who take pictures don't like getting there picture taken. Today we realized we are all going to be taking each others pictures. You cant go to a school with a couple of hundred photographers and not get your picture taken.

We had so much fun. Thanks Jessicas for the nice day.
